Joan Collins has said in interviews that while she never became close to Linda Evans; she and Diahann Carroll have become quite close over the years. Like their characters, John Forsythe and Linda Evans neither found much in common with Joan Collins; but they were close with each other. Collins later clarified that she and Evans were friendly before and after the run of the show; it was during the production that politics and competition clouded their friendship. (But they're close again now). But Forsythe and Collins have never at any point been friends. The enmity you see on the show is quite real.
