Shelly, a minor character from season 2, was portrayed by Marissa Jaret Winokur; Nurse Thomas, a recurring character from season 2, was portrayed by Laura Bell Bundy. Even though they shared no scenes, they were both the original Broadway casts of Tracy Turnblad and Amber von Tussle in Hairspray (2002).
