'Poe' is based on the famous writer Edgar Allan Poe, which also gives the name of his hotel 'The Raven' (one of his famous works). The shirt he wears during AI poker match (ep.8 26min) also has the signature of Edgar Allan Poe embroidered on the chest. Coincidentally, James Purefoy (Laurens Bancroft) played a serial killer obsessed with Edgar Allan Poe on The Following (2013). In his death scene the A.I. is quoting from Annabelle Lee the last work published by Poe.
