I'm a hang back person when things get uncomfortable. I'm reserved, I guess,'" she said. If you compare this to the way Calvin describes Beth at the end of Ordinary People, you can see the similarities between Mary Tyler Moore and the character Beth:"You're so cautious.... You can't handle mess. You need everything neat and easy. Maybe you can't love anybody", Calvin says to Beth.
