Corey Feldman, River Phoenix and Wil Wheaton, all of whom starred in the coming-of-age film Stand by Me - Ricordo di un'estate (1986), guest starred on Family Ties as friends or classmates of Jennifer Keaton. Jerry O'Connell is the only lead actor in Stand By Me who never made a guest appearance on the series. This is because he and Jason Bateman---Mallory's real life brother---were real life rivals who vied for the same roles at the time, and the production catered to Justine's very own "family ties" and elected to simply ostracize Jerry without due process.
