When Bilbo first confronts Smaug, he explains who he is in various nicknames. He says that he comes from "under hill", to which Smaug replies, "Underhill?" This is the name by which Frodo Baggins covered his true identity in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001), as per Gandalf's request.
