Between takes, Bradley Cooper often chatted with Clint Eastwood about filmmaking. Cooper has stated he has a goal of becoming a director, and as an actor turned director, Eastwood was an inspiration to him. He made his directorial debut on the Academy Award-winning A Star Is Born (2018), which he also co-wrote and co-produced.
