The series uses Zulu time, which the clock all NATO nation's militaries use, in fact virtually all countries use it for military time, as do civilian aviators. This is so that all military members, and civilian pilots, are all using the same clock to avoid confusion when traveling between time zones. Zulu time is the same as Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) or UTC+0, it is four hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time.
