Norm MacDonald first didn't want Bob Saget to direct. Norm called producer Bob Simonds, asking if he found a director. The producer told him that he got Saget. Norm asked him if he was nuts. Simonds told him that Saget is more than just "Danny Tanner from Full House". Bob actually won a Student Academy Award for a short film he directed when he was in film school called Through Adam's Eyes (1977). It was about his 7-year-old nephew who underwent facial reconstructive surgery. That was enough to convince Norm.
