Finished filming in August 1993. Columbia Pictures had planned to release the film in the dump month of February because they didn't have hope initially that the movie would perform well due to bad audience screen tests. They asked director Rob Reiner to edit the film in hopes it would be more successful. Reiner edited more of the film and it was finally released in July of 1994 almost an entire year after filming had wrapped and became a huge box office and critical disaster and was in fact Rob Reiner's first film to be labeled as such.
