For producer Mark Patterson, the key to a successful collaboration with writer-director Paul Cox is to understand and respect the intuitive way in which he approaches his work. Patterson said: "It comes from deep within, Paul has this huge knowledge base, not just about filmmaking, but about life and history and place and the importance or being. You wrap all of those up together, and add a bit of animal cunning, bit of street urchin behaviour and you have this quite extraordinary person. I've enjoyed that. We're also very different people and I think that's why we work so well together."
