The law about using animals in TV dramas changed in 2019, making it unlawful to subject them, for the purposes of the drama, to any procedure that they do not require. Consequently prosthetic rear ends of cows and sheep had to be used for any scenes where the vets had to perform a rectal or uterine examination or to help an animal give birth.
