After starring on MTM, for which Ed Asner won the Emmy; Asner went on to star in Lou Grant. Of all the MTM cast; he played his character the longest; for 12 years. After that he would star as a principal in the Bronx Zoo, and after that he would star in a recurring role on The Practice as a judge.
