During the first investigation of the Pyramid's interior structure, Elizabeth Shaw and her team discover a dead body of an engineer that has been decapitated in the Giant Head room. Shaw shows thoroughly unprofessional and reckless behavior for a scientist of her caliber when trying to 'revive' the head of the body in the lab, but no real explanation is given as to why her behavior is such in the theatrical film. However, in the extended and alternate scenes on the Blu-Ray and Digital releases of the film, a seriously drunk and angry Holloway confronts Shaw in her quarters about her obsession to talk to the Engineers as a substitute for getting answers from God. He throws in a bunch of options, such as the meaning of life, forgiveness for her sins, but most prominently, to express her anger with God for taking her parents away from her at a young age.
