The power tool used to drill the bank vault in the opening scene is a real tool called an Electromagnetic Drill Press. The device and similar magnetic drill presses have many legitimate uses, such as drilling holes on vertical surfaces or at elevation in the field where the work piece cannot be moved. They also happen to be perfect for drilling safes. Note: the high-end bank vault shown here would certainly have a tempered glass re-locker protecting the lock mechanism in order to deter such drill attacks by locking the individual door bolts in place when broken. A re-locker substantially increases the time required to drill a safe because, if engaged, the multiple individual bolts have to be drilled out.
