When he's going on about Ernesto's talent at the beginning, Miguel says "He played in movies, he had a cool guitar, he could fly!" Ernesto does go flying at the end of the movie, thanks to Pepita. Also Héctor can sing and he does have a cool guitar. But Miguel never considers whether or not Ernesto wrote his own songs. He never wrote a thing, every song he sung he stole from Héctor.
