Marit Allen designed Jennifer Connelly's wardrobe with "traditional American pieces, with influences of a bohemian, San Francisco style" to reflect Betty's practical nature, physicality, and femininity as well as natural elements. For Eric Bana, Allen designed his clothes to be very basic, making Bruce the film's 'Everyman.' His wardrobe was especially challenging for Allen because she and her team had to make Bruce look like "a scientist who spends much of his time at a computer or in a lab." They designed clothes to hide Bana's body and chose darker colors, mainly blue.
