Summer of 84 was a largely Canadian production: the trio of Directors are French/Canadian, 3 of the 5 child actors are Canadian as are both of Davey's parents. The movie was shot at Langley near Vancouver, British Columbia and yet the town is described as being in Massachusetts and the positioning of a Reagan/Bush sign mean clearly the movie has been marketed as being in America.
