Many episodes of The Mandalorian pay homage to early Japanese cinema - most notably the Lone Wolf and Cub series where a samurai travels feudal Japan with a child in tow, and I sette samurai (1954) where a poor village seeks the help of experienced swordsmen to protect them from pillaging raiders.
