Carrie's apartment building utilized five different exteriors throughout the run of the series. In the pilot, it was a nondescript building at 960 Madison Ave. in the Upper East Side, then moved to a brownstone at 34 East 62nd St. in Lennox Hill (which has since been demolished) by the end of the first season. An unknown property is used for an overhead shot looking down at the stoop in the second season, and a brownstone at 64 Perry St. in Greenwich Village is used for the remainder of the season. A brownstone next door at 66 Perry St. (which had more decorative handrails and opaque wooden doors) was used starting with the third season and was used for the remainder of the series and films.
