During his interrogation by the Communists, Puyi references that, while living in Tianjin, there was "an Anti-Manchurian League who wanted to assassinate me". This is as far as the 1987 film discusses this, but in the series Legend of the Last Emperor (2014) the League is shown in detail including the various plots to kill Puyi which took place up until 1931.
