The pope's visit scene at Yankee stadium was filmed June 16th 1997 before the very first subway series game between the Yankees and Mets. You can see people wearing Yankee and Met apparel amongst the religious spectators outside the stadium. The Mets would go on to win the first subway series game by the score of 6-0.
