For the German dubbing, George Clooney wanted a different voice actor instead his standard voice. His standard German voice is kinda high, warm, calm and friendly, as Clooney usually played roles before, that matched that. So he wanted a deeper, menacing and intimidating voice to make the character Seth Gecko appear more serious and frightening.
