Jack Nicholson and Stanley Kubrick both worked with several actors and directors on other films connected to Stephen King. James Mason, who visited the set and worked with Kubrick on Lolita (1962), appeared in Le notti di Salem (1979). George C. Scott appeared in both Il dottor Stranamore - Ovvero: come ho imparato a non preoccuparmi e ad amare la bomba (1964) and Fenomeni paranormali incontrollabili (1984). Herbert Lom appeared in Spartacus (1960) and La zona morta (1983), which also featured Scott's one time wife Colleen Dewhurst. Nicholson has appeared in two film for director Rob Reiner, who directed Stand by Me - Ricordo di un'estate (1986) and Misery non deve morire (1990).
