The ending was changed dramatically late in filming. Originally, after Lady Tottington tells Wallace she has a proposal for him, it would cut to outside the church with wedding music playing. Lady Tottington would emerge in a bridal dress with her new husband, PC Mackintosh. Wallace and Gromit would be among the guests and Wallace would share one last friendly look with Lady Tottington before leaving with Gromit. The duo would then take their van out into the countryside and free all the rabbits they had captured, with Hutch racing out in a car he created out of vegetables. The first few shots of this ending were animated before it was scrapped, as Nick Park decided that audiences would be upset by Wallace not getting the girl, especially since Lady Tottington and PC Mackintosh hadn't interacted with each other at all in the film and there was no hint that they had a relationship.
