Although many of the characters' backstories and roles were made up, Lisa's backstory is largely based on the story of Eva Gabor, who plays her. Gabor was born one of three daughters to a Hungarian veteran of the Austro-Hungarian army during World War One, and grew up in Budapest, Hungary, in a middle- class lifestyle.
