On Star Trek (1966), at the end of the introductory speech, narrated by William Shatner at the beginning of each episode, is "to boldly go where no man has gone before." On Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987), narrated by Patrick Stewart, it was substituted for the words "to boldly go where no one has gone before", in an effort to be more gender-neutral and race-neutral. In this feature, the otherwise introductory speech is moved to the end and narrated by multiple members of the cast, the last bit ("to boldly go where no one has gone before") being spoken by a female character, Lieutenant Uhura, portrayed by Zoe Saldana.
