Bill Pullman's performance as President Thomas J. Whitmore is clearly based on Bill Clinton, President of the United States at the time. Very funny, when David Levinson and his father Julius are in the Oval Office with David's ex wife Constance, she explains Julius that years ago David punched Thomas (before he was elected) because he thought that Thomas and Constance had a love affair. It anticipated the real life: in 1998, White House intern Monica Lewinsky accused Clinton to have a love affair with her from 1995 to 1997.
