Christopher Reeve and Annette O'Toole are both younger than their characters. As it's dated 1965 on their final High School photos. Reeve and O'Toole (who were both born in 1952) would be no more than 13 years-old that year. (The similar fact was also in the first film, in which Reeve was aged 24-25 playing the 30 year-old Superman/Clark Kent).
