Due to Elvis Presley wearing eyeliner in real life, hair and makeup designer Shane Thomas wanted to have a lot of emphasis on Elvis' eyes in the film. "Elvis had these really dreamy lashes and bedroom eyes. So, we wanted to recreate the look," stated Thomas. He goes on to say, "We wanted to sort of sell Elvis, or Austin, as the punk of the '50s, because he was quite the revolutionary." To achieve the look, Austin Butler wore two sets of Lash Republic Lashes by Milan & Co and a heavy amount of Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof Long-Lasting Eyeliner.
