In the game series, Robotnik has traditionally gone back & forth between 2 different designs: one where he's tall & thin and one where he's comically overweight with stubby limbs. The second one is frequently called 'Eggman' by Sonic as a way of mocking how fat he is. Even though Jim Carrey is portraying the thin character model in this movie, Sonic still calls him Eggman as a reference to the shape of his surveillance drones.
