The first J.J. Abrams film not to be scored by Michael Giacchino, as the Star Wars franchise composer John Williams returned to score the film. Coincidentally, Giacchino scored Jurassic World (2015), a sequel to Jurassic Park (1993) and Il mondo perduto - Jurassic Park (1997), which were both scored by Williams. That film credits Williams for its use of his iconic theme music.
