Repeat showings of certain episodes/performances may be postponed to changes in record companies, and/or music publishing and/or recording artists reclaiming their master tapes making performance rights payments during the transition period chaotic. Most obviously, as EMI was a large record company, and by the 2010s had acquired many other labels, and was a key part of the Charts, due to the corporate takeover and EMI break-up, the Master Recordings ended up being split between Warner Music, Universal Music and BMG Rights Management, and some artists reclaiming their own Master Tapes, with EMI Music Publishing primarily going into Sony-ATV Music Publishing, it would understandably be a chaotic Rights paper trail until all Rights had transitioned to the (new) owners. Obviously, similar situations would have occurred during the original run of Top of the Pops with labels being taken over and music publishers changing.
