The film is about the rape of a young woman; Roman Polanski himself was charged with the rape of a young woman, Samantha Geimer (S. Gailey); a woman who said Polanski plied her with drugs and alcohol and raped her when she was 13 in Jack Nicholson's Beverly Hills home, unbeknownst to Nicholson who was vacationing in Colorado at the time.
