The briefing scene aboard the Prometheus resembles the briefing from Aliens - Scontro finale (1986), including most of the crew not having been told about the purpose of the mission before they went into hypersleep. In Aliens, this was because the Sulaco had to be dispatched to LV-426 as quickly as possible due to a communications black-out; in this movie, the very secret nature of the mission to LV-233 was probably the reason why the crew wasn't briefed in advance, to prevent them from sharing their destination with others.
