Much like with the original Il Re Leone (1994), many actors from this film have made appearances in Sesamo apriti (1969) sketches over the years, as well as in stuff related to The Muppets. Billy Eichner (Timon), John Oliver (Zazu), and Keegan-Michael Key (Banzai/Kamari) have even met with some Muppets at times on their own talk shows.
