It is suggested that Queen Victoria fell in love with or fancied Lord Melbourne. There is no indication that the teenage Victoria saw Melbourne, forty years older than her, as anything more than a father figure. Although notable that parts of Victoria's diary were heavily censored after her death, the entries during the Melbourne years of her reign are available unedited. However, Melbourne's political influence on the young Queen was much remarked upon at the time, which lead to her being mockingly referred to as "Mrs. Melbourne".
