Elizabeth Reaser, who plays Shirley, also plays Esme Cullen in Twilight (2008). In the Haunting of Hill House, Shirley's husband, Kevin (Anthony Ruivivar), says she should send Nell's body to Carlisle because he would do a great job. Esme Cullen was married to Carlisle Cullen in Twilight. Young Shirley (Lulu Wilson) also named the first dead kitten Jasper. In Twilight, Esme has an adopted son named Jasper Hale.
