During a scene, Jon, Michael and Susan are watching "Sunday in the park with George" on television. That's one of Stephen Sondheim's most iconic musicals. Later on, Jon sings "Sunday", which in many ways refers to and slightly makes fun of Sondheim's "Sunday" in Sunday in the park with George. Moreover, the Sunday scene in Tick Tick Boom ends with the Moondance diner and the entire frame dissolving into a pointillism picture. Pointillism was the technique used by Georges Seurat in his famous work: "A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte". This painting inspired Sondheim's musical: "Sunday in the park with George".
