This movie marks as one of two times a character played by Colin Firth loses the leading lady for a Fiennes brother. In this one, Ralph Fiennes got the girl, while in Shakespeare in Love (1998), Gwyneth Paltrow was conquered by Joseph Fiennes. Coincidentally, both movies were Academy Award winners of Best Picture, and both were produced by Miramax Films.
