Quentin Tarantino recommended Christoph Waltz to director Robert Rodriguez. Tarantino directed Waltz to two Oscar wins in Bastardi senza gloria (2009) and Django Unchained (2012), and he has been a long-time friend and collaborator of Rodriguez since the early 1990s.
