Wade briefly mentions treatment centers in Mexico where they can treat 'El Cancer'. A long sequence was removed from the film where Wade and Vanessa travel to a Mexican clinic, looking for a miracle cure after he turns down the recruiter. Wade notices how the clinic rips people off financially, and then sees a doctor performing 'psychic surgery' on a fellow patient, a medical hoax where the tumors are supposedly manually pulled out of the body without making cuts. Wade then confronts the doctor, and they get into a violent argument that ends in the latter's death. The Mexico sequence was removed for pacing reasons, and because it would make the film darker in tone. It was replaced with a short scene of Wilson sitting beside his window that was originally filmed to show him thinking about his diagnosis, but in the new context, it implies him re-thinking the recruiter's offer.
