The story that Leonardo DiCaprio slept in the gutted carcass of an actual horse during the shoot was not true. Producer Steve Golin clarified this during a producers' round table interview with "The Hollywood Reporter", conducted by editors Stephen Galloway and Matt Belloni. In actuality, the sequence took about two hours to film, with DiCaprio inside a prosthetic carcass.
