In the series, The Doctor's planet Gallifrey was destroyed in the aftermath of the 'Last Great Time War' which The Time Wars fought the Daleks (robots). In the 1980s, Australian writer and director Brian Hannant wrote a sci-fi movie about a time traveling city in a bubble that get pursed by an evil robot titled "Time Wars". But, the script was rewritten and the title was changed to Terminators 2 (1987) which the film starred Carrie Fisher and was released in 1987. 1987 was also the year Sylvester McCoy made his debut as The 7th Doctor in the classic series.
