The show contains many representations of the LGBT community. It has been stated by the show creator, Rebecca Sugar, that Pearl was very deeply in love with Rose Quartz and is made well know in many episodes but is not fully expressed until the episode "Sworn to the Sword". Garnet is also the product of a romantic relationship between Ruby and Sapphire who, while gems are genderless, are both depicted as females. Stevonnie, Steven and Connie's fusion, is also considered to be non-binary as they go by "they/them/we" pronouns. It is also suggested that all gems are either pansexual or asexual considering they are genderless and are more interested in the love aspect of a relationship rather than sex. The only representation that has not been featured as of yet is a gay or bisexual male character.
