The primary interior for the film was the two-story set for Ayshe (Olga Kurylenko)'s hotel. Producer Andrew Mason noted: "The inside of the hotel was built as one complete structure so that scenes could move through the front door and flow upstairs and into rooms or through the main dining room, into the kitchen and out to the courtyard." Production designer Christopher Kennedy added: "The hotel set was an amalgam of our favorite Ottoman architectural details surveyed in Istanbul and beyond during our research trips. The somewhat eclectic result was a building that, while responding to the internal geography required for the scenes, also provided a mysterious and seductive environment typical of the period setting and fitting the characters' circumstances." Those circumstances were also reflected in the costumes.
