On the show Sex and the City, series 4 episode 17 ('A Vogue idea') Carrie told Julian Fisher that her father had left her and her mother when she was little. In The Carrie Diaries Carrie's mom died and she lives with her father and sister. (It should however be noted that the show is based on the book).
