All of the teams named in the series were real AAGBPL teams, but the Rockford Peaches did not play for the title in 1943, the league's inaugural season. The show depicts the South Bend Blue Sox defeating the Rockford Peaches, while historically in 1943 the Racine Belles defeated the Kenosha Comets. The 1992 movie took liberties with this as well, depicting the Racine Bells defeating the Rockford Peaches. The Peaches, however, would still go on to win the most titles in the league's history, winning four championships during the league's 11-year run.
