Working opposite computer-generated characters, Domhnall Gleeson and Rose Byrne, who play the live action roles in the movie, were looking at tennis balls, glue sticks, and men in leotards during much of the filming. Of this process, Gleeson said: "One of the central things of the film is that humans don't know that animals can talk in the world we exist in, so it is good in a way that there wasn't back and forth like conversation scenes with the rabbits." Byrne simply said: "You adjust yourself, you got to commit, right?"
