Actor Brian Van Holt has played both sides of the LAPD/LASD rivalry. He played an LAPD officer in S.W.A.T. (2003) and an LASD deputy in this movie. In addition, actor Pablo Schreiber similarly played an ex-military professional who utilized the M249 "SAW" machine gun for his job in 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi (2016). Except in 13 Hours, he was a former Army Ranger (turned CIA security contractor) and in Den of Thieves, he's a former U.S. Marine turned bank robber.
